about Melanie

Melanie has a well established reputation as an Equestrian artist and is much sought after for her highly skilled representation of equine subjects. Her practice encompasses painting sporting events such as Polo, Dressage, Eventing, Racing as well as Portraiture. Trained in portraiture and life painting at Heatherleys School of Fine Art in London, Melanie has run studios in London and Oxfordshire for over 20 years. Her work is exhibited regularly in the UK and features in private collections internationally. Working in oils, watercolour, mixed media and pastels, Melanie has painted high profile names such as Event rider Paul Tapner and National Hunt jockey Timmy Murphy, she also has links with International Dressage in Oxfordshire. Melanie is currently in her second year of 'Artist in Residence' at Charlie Longsdon Racing, but she is equally happy to portray 'much loved' family horses and ponies, with or without riders or background detail. Melanie spends time sketching the subject as well as taking photographs and getting to know the subject prior to the portrait. Drawings from £950, Watercolours from £1,200 and Oils from £2,000.
