Terms and Conditions

On placing an order for a portrait, a deposit of 50% is payable by cheque or bank transfer to Susanna Houghton Fine Art.

Travel, framing and postage expenses will usually be extra and will be payable directly to the artist prior to delivery of the portrait.

Upon completion of the portrait, the balance is due prior to delivery of the portrait.

The Artist will be entitled to charge interest at 4% above Lloyds Bank base rate on overdue payments. Payment will be acceptable via bank transfer or cheque.

Deposits are non-refundable unless the artist is unable to start the portrait. The price includes any VAT where applicable.

No refunds can be given for a purchased piece of art.  Every effort will be made to exchange the piece from the same artist if the client is unhappy although delivery may be chargeable.

Two subjects in one portrait will usually be double the cost unless agreed otherwise.

Any sitter will be required to give such sittings and other assistance, for example photographs, as the Artist requires for the successful completion of the work.

Framing is not included but the Artist can usually recommend a local framer.

Copyright rests with the Artist. Fetch&Canter/Susanna Houghton Art will be entitled to copy or reproduce the commissioned work for the purposes of publicity and promotion for itself and/or the artist, this includes the use of social media. If the Client would prefer the portrait not to be used for publicity, Fetch&Canter must be informed.

Portraits which have been painted from photographs will be based on the likeness to the photograph.

The Client acknowledges that they have reviewed other portraits of the Artist and are familiar with their work.

The Client will inform the artist if there is a deadline for the portrait. The Artist will keep the client informed of the progress of the portrait.
